Repeat with the other side/front/back pieces.
Fold your 5.5″ x 4″ rectangle in half and pin to top of house front.
Machine sew 1/8″ from the top of house.

Place stripes 1″ from the bottom and top of roof pieces.
Trim stripes to match the roof edges.
Top stitch the stripes into place with machine, or by hand.
Sew hair elastic to bottom of roof back.
Lay out roof pieces like this. Pin, wrong sides together, and machine stitch using 1/4″ seam allowance starting and ending 1/4″ from the beginning and end. See below for instructions of attaching the handle while sewing the side pieces of the roof to roof top.
I didn’t take a picture of this, but to make the handle you layer the two handle pieces together and sew around all 4 sides.
When you sew the first roof side panel to roof top, sew one end of the handle at the same time.
Attaching the other side of the handle is a little tricky. You have to pin the roof pieces and handles and sew from the top side moving the handle out of the way as you sew. Hopefully the picture helps!
Match up the bottom front of the roof with the top of the house and pin to folded felt rectangle. Sew about 1/8″ from edge.
Pin roof sides (wrong sides together) and stitch using 1/4″ seam allowance the same way you did the house sides and add a button to the back of the house, using the hair elastic to determine placement.
And you are done!
